Crystal Courbet (Construct) (Painting)
Crystal Courbet (Construct), is a Painting on canvas, heavily textured, creating the image of 19th century French Painter, Gustave Courbet. The image is a reflection of the stone breakers in similiarity to 20th century constructivist movement, of socialist ideology, having iconic figures of the past constructing, destroying ideals, and the many revolutions that shape our present day existence, it is part of the artist's coarse art series, using stone and courbets stone breakers to measure upon the backdrop of spacial time.
Crystals, stones and geological formations take a long time to develop, where philsophers of the east hold with great value. Like the korean scholarly rock, the Suseok (수석), it imagines the constant reflection upon the rock with great scrutiny, to replenish one's ideal to the greatest level. It is why the artist has drawn the comparison of art to philosophical stones, to appreciate the innate beauty of the object, and its story.
