Metamodernity
The metamodern is a term used by art critic James Elkins to describe how the postmodern era's focus on the self has changed into a broader understanding of human experience. The term was popularized by Timotheus Vermeulen and Robin van den Akker in their 2010 essay, "Notes on Metamodernism".
In the essay "Notes on Metamodernism," Vermeulen and Van Den Akker define metamodernism as "the belief that there is no longer overarching progress, with postmodernism being seen as the final stage of cultural development
